Volunteers meet with a child on a regular basis (usually 3 times a month) and do the everyday things you already do (i.e., visit the park, run errands, eat a pizza). It doesn't take a lot of time, money, or special experience to be a friend to a child. Community-Based Volunteers spend time with a Little Brother or Little Sister 3 times a month for a minimum of one year. Our Big Brothers can be matched with a Little Brother and Big Sisters can be matched with either a Little Brother or Little Sister. In addition to the fun you and your Little Brother or Little Sister will have together, Big Brothers Big Sisters sponsors events, as well as offers free tickets to sporting and entertainment events. A School-Based Volunteer is matched with a Little Brother or Little Sister in a local elementary or middle school. One hour each week, usually during lunch, the Big engages in various activities with the Little, such as enjoying lunch together, playing on the playground or just hanging out and talking. Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas works with a variety of schools located in Bryan/College Station. With many schools to choose from, it is usually easy to find a school no more than 10-15 minutes away from any volunteer.
