Margie's Bar & Grill is a relaxed, social bar and grill offering delicious American classics like burgers and barbecue, sides, and a variety of great drinks.
A message from the owner: "Hello, my husband and I own Margie's Bar & Grill in Downtown Bryan. The restaurant itself has been opened since 1924 and was once called Opersteny's. The original owner was Lewis Opersteny and it was located 2 blocks down by the old National Bank on the corner of William and main street. It caught fire and was relocated to our current location at 320 N. Main. The grill we use Is the original grill from 1924. We also have the original register that my MIL used up until 1996. In the 70s Jimmy Marucci took the business over from his FIL and ran a pawn shop in the back of the restaurant and also ran the grill and bar. In the late 70s Opersteny was rented to Margie Sysco which was when the name changed from Opersteny to Margie's Bar & Grill. The name stuck after the Wager family bought the business in the mid 80s.
The original Opersteny is a 2 oz patty burger made with mustard, onions, and pickles. We toast our buns on both sides and soo much flavor lives in that grill!! If you have never been in Margie's, we actually cook your food in an open kitchen! All burgers are made to order the moment the ticket is put up. We hope you try us soon!!"
